Roll, Fall and Bump

We had our 'baby-fell-off-the-bed episode' last week. I mentioned before that Hayley has been sleeping on our bed since day 1, she is still sleeping with us because she refused to sleep in her baby cot. She sleeps in the middle. Recently, we found out that she has been a tummy sleeper. We would change her sleeping position to the side throughout the night, but each time we checked on her, she is on her tummy, this means, she's been rolling over in her sleep. We have been warned not to have her sleep on our bed, but as parents, we can't bear to leave her crying in her baby cot, all alone. So we gave in.

'Malam ini dalam sejarah'!. We woke up to an awful thump. Needless to say, we were completely freaked out. She was not crying at first, it was only when we yelled and jumped off our bed, rushed to her and held her up she started crying. She sustained a big bump on her forehead and some bruises on her cheeks. We were worried by how quickly the bump appeared. She only cried for about a minute or so. We checked for other bruises and observed her for about half an hour for any symptoms of concussion before we headed off to the ER for a thorough check-up. She seemed to be perfectly fine. She is far more resilient than we ever imagined and in fact, we were more traumatized than her. We felt horribly guilty and still do about it as parents. Learning and exercising 'firm' parenting becomes necessary now. What's your parenting approach? Please feel free to share with us.
